Gone HomeWilf Shipley April 14, 1931-July 6, 2010 It is with great sadness that 1st Marysville Scout Group announces the passing of G. Wilfred (Wilf) Shipley. Wilf passed away this beautiful July 6th evening at 7pm.
Wilf will be remembered for his 40 plus years of service to Wolf Cubs and Scouting in the Fredericton/Rivorton area. Beloved by his boys he will be dearly missed by all of 1st Marysville. His Cubs will remember him as a dynamic and wonderful leader that molded them and showed them skills and ideas that made them what they are today!!
Fred Brown Fred was a Cub leader with 1st Marysville for many years. He was active in Fredericton Cubbing and Scouting activities in the 1950s and 1960s. Fred passed away in April 2010.
Dale Blaine Cosman 1962-2009 The passing of Dale Blaine Cosman of Fredericton, NB, husband of Rhonda Wilson occurred on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 11, 1962 in Ottawa, ON, he was the son of Albert Cosman and Hazel (Fraser) Cosman. Dale was a member of the Fredericton Minor Hockey Association.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dale is survived by his two sons, Tyler and Derrick; sisters, Tara Cosman of Halifax, NS and Jessie Cosman (Stephen Craig) of Fredericton, NB; brothers, Leslie (Kim) of Fredericton, NB and Neil of Chicago, USA; step mother, Donna (Clarkson) Cosman of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Dale was predeceased by an infant sister, Cheryl.
He was a Scouter with 2nd Nashwaaksis Troop during 2004-05. He also served with 18th Fredericton from 1999-2004 in the Colony, Pack, and Group.
Paul Worthen On October 16, 2009, a long-time supporter of Scouting, he had been a member of the 3rd Fredericton Rover Crew for many years and, after that, had been a Scout leader with 1st Fredericton Troop.
Alexander Boucher Alexander Boucher was born in Duck Bay, Manitoba in the year of 1919. He is predeceased by his parents, Pierre Boucher and Virginia Genaille and by his first wife, Mary Paul. Survived by his wife, Carmel (Paul) Boucher, son, Scott and wife Shannon Paul and daughter Carol Paul, one step-daughter and five stepsons; five grandchildren, Jeff (Ruth Anne), Kim (Wayne), Maxine (Hubert), Rossy (Shelley) and Artie and a host of great and great, great grandchildren.
Alex was a veteran of the 2nd World War and the Korean Conflict. He fought with the Essex Scots during the 2nd World War and the R.C.R. in Korea. He was wounded at the Battle for the Hockwald forest in Germany.
Alex did a lot of volunteer work in his day. He was in scouting for 15 years where he was known as Mr. Kub Kar. He built Kub Kar Race tracks for almost every pack in the district and was also in charge of the Kub Kar racing. He coached little league baseball and was also involved with Meals on Wheels for a number of years. Alex and his wife Carmel were honoured as volunteers of the month in 1988. Alex was also a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, the R.C.R. Association and the Korean Vets Association.
Herb Allen Herbert A. (Herb) Allen (Unggawah) was born on February 27th, 1934 in Fredericton, NB. He was the son of the late Roy I. Allen and Mildred (McKiel) Allen and the husband of Sue (Hughes) for over 51 years. Herb worked for 38 years with the Provincial Government in various aspects of electrical design for the Department of Education and the Department of Supply and Services. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St Anthony's Choir and was one of the founding members of St. Anthony's Parish Council. Herb was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a member of the Bereavement Committee. He was also in Scouting for over 50 years. He went from being a Scout at St Dunstan's to Scoutmaster at St. Anthony's, District Commissioner, Provincial Commissioner and member of the National Council. Herb was very involved in Jamborees locally and nationally. He was recognized with many awards for his service to Scout's Canada. He was awarded the highest achievement in Scouting - the Silver Wolf, and received recognition as Distinguished Citizen of the year as well as the Rotary Club Paul Harris Award. One of his proudest achievements, outside of his family, was the rebuilding of the Yoho Scout Lodge. Herb loved hockey and was a goal tender with RCAFA Old Timers for many years. He was a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America for over 30 years. He was also member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 and served as 2nd Vice President and was later awarded Life Time Member.
Howard Earle MacNaughton Went home on June 19, 2009, after a short illness. Born in English Settlement, NB, on June 26, 1927, he was the second child of Bruce and Winnifred ("Tot") MacNaughton. He was the husband of Verona (Douglass) MacNaughton, his devoted wife of fifty years. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was active in Scouts Canada, notably as a Troop Scouter and a Rover Advisor.
Vern Kirkpatrick Vern Kirkpatrick passed away in Fredericton on May 19, 2009, at the age of 74. He had been a Cub leader with one of the Cub Packs at 1st St. Margaret's in the late 1960s and, in the 1970s, had been a member and eventually the Chair of the 1st St. Margaret's Group Committee.

CPL Chad O'Quinn Gone Home on March 3, 2009
CPL Chad O'Quinn was killed by an improvised explosive device while serving with the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Chad was a former member of 1st Oromocto Scout Group.
Redstone, Samuel Gone Home on December 28, 2008 Samuel (Sam, Sammy) Livingston Redstone of White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction passed away quietly at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on December 28, 2008 at the age of 86. Sam is survived by three sisters Hazel Reid, Saint John, NB, Bertha Smith, Beaverdam NB, Rose Pate, Barntford, ON and one brother, John (Pauline) Redstone, Saint John NB as well as several nieces & nephews. Sam was a Veteran of the Second World War and worked with the NB Department of Transportation - Maintenance Division. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55, a long time member of Boy Scouts of Canada as he and his wife worked as troop leaders for many years and a hunters safety instructor with the Department of Natural Resources. He was predeceased by his wife Marie (Randall) Redstone; his parents Mary (Neary) and Charles Redstone; two sisters Doris Redstone, Elizabeth Anne Alexander; eight brothers, Ottis, David, Murray, George, Fred, Bill, Alden and Alfred. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at Sunbury Funeral Home on Tuesday December 30, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm with a Legion Tribute being held at 7 pm. Funeral service will be from Sunbury Funeral Home on December 31, 2008 at 2 pm with the Bishop George Lemon officiating. Interment in the Gladstone Cemetery at a later date. Craig will be fondly remembered by extended family, business associates, and a wide circle of close friends. Craig was a Cub and Scout leader for several years at 3rd Fredericton. William Hilborn Scouter William was the Secretary to Fredericton South District from 1963-64, the Vice-President of Fredericton South District from 1966-67, and President of the Fredericton South District from 1967 to 1969. Charles Mitchell Gone home on January 1, 2008 Between 1976 and 1979, he was a Scout Counsellor with the 4th Fredericton (St. Dunstan's) Troop and, between 1979 and 1982, he was a Scout Counsellor with the 9th Fredericton (Wilmot United) Troop. NB, wife of David Bailey, occurred on November 11, 2007 at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Ken Whaley March 23, 1943-January 16, 2007 Scouter Ken Whaley went home on January 16, 2007. He was born in London England, where he went through the Scout program as a youth and later received his Gilwell training. A prospector by profession, Ken worked as a Scout leader in Newfoundland before moving to Fredericton, where he worked with 1st Springhill, Skyline Acres Troop and 1st St. Margaret's.
